Discover the critical impact of antimicrobial resistant (AMR) pathogens on global health at our upcoming evening event. Engage with experts as they explore innovative treatments like phage therapy and address the social challenges of antibiotic resistance. Dive into interactive discussions to brainstorm creative solutions to this urgent issue.
The emergence of antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) pathogens, organisms that are resistant to antibiotics, poses a significant global health threat, claiming millions of lives each year. In 2019 alone, it is estimated that AMR infections resulted in 4.95 million deaths. The rise of AMR can be attributed to factors such as the misuse and overuse of antibiotics in the food industry, livestock farming and medicine.
During this evening event, participants will have the chance to get an overview of the current context in antimicrobial resistance from a pluridisciplinary perspective: invited speakers will tackle topics such as phage therapy as an innovative treatment, and how antibiotic resistance can act as a social challenge. Furthermore, interactive discussions in small groups will enable participants to explore creative solutions to the complexities of AMR as a challenge for our society.
